I have always thought that Serov's portrait of Nicholas was magnificent! I've seen some of his work here and there but this site has alot of it.

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) have a Serov portrait of HIM Czar Nicholas II in the Review Order (full dress) of the 2d Dragoons or Royal Scots Greys of which he was Colonel-in-Chief from 1895 until 1917.  The portrait hangs in the officer's Mess Hall.  Before their regimental band was disbanded in 1993, the Russian Imperial Anthem - God Save the Czar - was played on guest nights.
