They were on honeymoon for 3 months,had Queen Wilhelmina regularly requesting them to return home,but no...
There was Poland,Vienna,Budapest,Rome,Nice,Monaco and ofcourse Paris to see too.Juliana left The Netherlands
a bit as a frumpy young woman clothwise.Difficult as it was to get out from under the influence of mommy Wilhelmina
who did pick and choose Juliana's dresses and various pieces of cloth resembling dresses......

Bernard changed that,so dearest Juliana returned home in haute couture...and smoking....mother Wilhelmina was baffled
but too happy to have "her children" home again.

Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard on "Binnenhof" in the Hague (=Parliament buildings), attending what looks like the Opening of Parliament ("Prinsjesdag", Third Tuesday of September) in 1947 (Cars were used in 1945 '46 and '47 as the "Golden Carriage" was deemed a little over the top for those bleak post-war years)
Picture most probably made by my father, who worked for the Army Photo Service at the time, and found in an old album.
Apologies for the less than perfect quality of the picture. Composition is spot on though I think.

I'm basing the date of 1947 on the car in the photograph -a different car was used for the Opening of Parliament in 1946- , but if anyone can correct me on this point : please do!

16th February 1948 : a guy from the Army Film and Photo Service (Not my father I might add) doing a photoshoot of the Prince.
The picture of the guy doing the photoshoot is probably made by my father, and the two underneath are from that exact same photoshoot.
