The original Starwars trilogy was superb.... starring, of course, the superbly fragrant Harrison Ford. Loved LOTR too but, yes, it is a bit "bum numbing" ;DBut then there is the very fragrant Viggo Mortenson ;D

I just didn't like it  :P

Fair enough. Each to their own.  :)

As for you Kim, Viggo didn't look very fragrant to me.  ;) Orlando looked more like the perfume wearing type.  ;D

Well, no more Star Wars are planned. But I think George Lucus will get bored in a few years and write them. But I hope not. They've really gone downhill.

He says he's definitely finished with them. I don't see why he would continue them and stay in their shadow all the time. Besides, what would 7, 8 and 9 be about? And who would play whom etc? I can't see it happening.

I love Star Wars, but the last 3 films I probably could have lived without. The wooden acting of Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman killed the last one for me totally.

I completely loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy, however. I wished the movies were even longer, actually. There was so much background I would've loved to see. I realize it was impossible to do it, but I still wish they'd showed Radagast the Brown!

Definitely Glorfindel. And Tom Bombadil, too, while we're at it!  :)

I didn't like Bombadil. Too . . . odd. But I liked Gildor too, and Elrond's two sons!  :)

Now that I'm thinking about it, my only real gripe with Fellowship of the Rings was how they never alluded to how old Bilbo was, and how much time had passed between the night Bilbo disappeared and when Gandalf came back and told him he had to leave Hobbiton. In the movie, it seemed to have happened practically overnight!
Oh well, though, I won't complain TOO much. I really do think the entire trilogy is a masterpiece!

Yep, I loved it too. I liked the way Arwen had a much bigger role in the film than in the book too.

Ah well, at least with LOTR you got to see the beautiful scenery of my country! (but yes, the movies were very long). Honestly, I think Star Wars should have quit while it was ahead...sometime back in the late 1970s.

Actually they did the former:

"Today is my 111th birthday!"

"Happy birthday!"

"Alass, 111 years is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

-- Fellowship of the Ring

And it is a magnificent adaptation. And one of the main reasons is Howard Shore, who couldn't have done his job without Christopher Lee (he helped with some of the Elvish lyrics).
Hatred – this is a disgusting feeling. Yes, there is sport gambling, there is a striving to win. But to hate someone – this is awful! I think, that first of all you have to learn to respect your rival. -- Evgeni Plushenko

You're absolutely right. What I meant to say was that they never said how old Frodo was. I must have been having a brain freeze when posting that!  :o :)
