I was thinking of that scene a few weeks ago but couldn't recall the name of the cartoon. LOL.  Good work.

"I see nothing but good things in his future... Of course, I could be wrong."

Am I the only one who laughed at this?  Not in a "funny-ha-ha" way, but in a "Ouch, that hurt!" way.

Same here.

I laughed at the puns though, like when Rasputin tells the three to slow down and one says "Why?  Everyone else is Russian!"

This is a TV show in which members of the public bring along antiques and interesting items, and experts discuss and value them. On the most recent edition, the son of Commander H.W.Fothergill (he served on HMS Marlborough in 1919) brought along an album of photographs, letters and other memorabilia which his father had put together after the voyage to rescue the survivors of the Romanov family. There was one particular letter from the Dowager Empress thanking Commander Fothergill and the crew for all their kindness, and a signed photograph of her. I would have liked a closer look at the album! The expert acknowledged that it was impossible to put a value on such a unique collection, but said a figure of £10,000 would be an absolute minimum if it ever came up for auction. I recall Frances Welch is currently preparing a new book on HMS Marlborough ~ it might be worth contacting the Fothergill family to see what else they've got!

He also had the order of St Andrew I think? It was moving to see the letter when one bears in mind what they had been though at that stage.

The Dowager Empresses order of St andrew was sold after her death.I cannot imagine the Dowager would give (even if she had had the authority) so important a order even to such a important person as her rescuer...nor would the 2 Grand dukes onboard even if they had had their insignia have given it away...pehaps Fothergill was a collector and it came from another source.

oh, gosh Animaniacs. That was a good tv show :), a spin off of Animaniacs, called hysteria had the Russian Revolution song  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCln4UEUc0o

After searching everywhere, I found the entire episode here: http://www.truveo.com/The-Russian-Revolution/id/1678504493

Histeria was neat, although I always preferred Animaniacs.

I love ARS (UK) and have seen a lot of Imperial items or photographs.
I had seen a lady whose father went to an auction in the late 20s and won a set of plates with the emboss of  Alexander III and Nicholas II on the back, the guy looking at them said it was likely from the Standart.  *I cringed when the woman was laughing and punching the air when she found out it was worth 300 pounds each plate.*

One woman's grandfather was a photograph and he took photographs of the Royal family on board ships.  There was pics of the IF with  King George's family and other royal families etc.

Last time I saw a man who had a collection of silver and crockery belonging ot Nicky and Alix.

Yes, I agree. The jokes are funny, but that one made me sad.

This however:

Do you remember who did the film? I once read a bio of Natalie Wood. Her family it mentioned did really stay attached to their Russian origins esp her father, in her childhood. It mentioned her father really revered the Imperial family- I will have to find that bio and quote it. So judging from that info in her biography, they likely had the picture as a sign of attachment to the Imperial Family's memory. It was reality for them, being of Russian descent, and not so many years since the Russian Revolution. Of course, Natalie and the Romanovs both did meet tragic ends.

I don't know if anybody saw it, but there was a brief allusion to the Romanovs on "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. I think it was already a week ago or something but it only got here now. It was not a very nice one, but I still think it was funny and I still love Jon Stewart! Anyway... here's the link:

(Probably a stupid topic to start, but what else can one do when there is nothing else, but to talk about something? :P)

P.S. A little off topic but... are there any Daily Show fans here? :)

Only "outside of Moscow"??  How far outside?  Does he even know?

I do like John Stewart and also Colbert.

It is an odd word to use, czar, to title a government overseer.  Why not car king?  or  car Sultan?

There was an episode of Charmed in it's first season called Wicca Envy.  In that episode, Prue (Shannen Doherty) was framed by her two Warlock bosses, Rex Buckland and Hannah Webster, for stealing the "Romanov Tiara".  Part of a scheme that Rex cooked up to get Prue and her two sisters, Piper and Phoebe (Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano) into giving up their powers.

Anyway, I took a liking to the Rex and Hannah characters (they are the ones in my avatar pic) and gave them their own series, Fan Fictions I call The Rex and Hannah Chronicles.  in those stories, R&H give up evil and become good.  In my 13th story, Requiem, R&H encounter the Earth bound spirits of NAOTMAA.  The tiara incident is mentioned in this story.
