Sounds pretty good.

Note that young Vincent has Frederik as his second name just in case big brother Christian fails to produce issue.

Ah, tradition.

I guess Mathilda was given for Queen Caroline Mathilda of Denmark, former Princess of Great Britain. Unhappy little person... :(

No,not her.It is after Waltzing Mathilda, world famous in Australia and far beyond as it is their unofficial national anthem.
It's that Mathilda,everybody knows that song! ;D

Royal Twins named what do you think?
« Reply #229 on: April 15, 2011, 01:53:24 AM »
The names have finally been announced.

Prince  Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander  and Princess Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda.

I honestly don't like the name Vincent.  Makes me think of Vinnie from the movie Twins (the one with Danny Devito and Arnie)  where Vinnie is named Vincent because the sciencetists predicted the character would turn out to be a loser in life.

Poor kid.

Josephine is a nice name and I'm assuming named after Mary's friend who is also Godmother to Josephine.

Poor kid.

I don't think you can call him a "poor kid" just because of the name. There are names which are even worse. In my opinion Vincent is very fitting for a prince and it sounds more harmonic in my ears as Knud  :)

Christening Twins of Crownprince Frederick and Crownprincess Mary
« Reply #231 on: April 15, 2011, 05:02:06 AM »
Indeed! What nonsense to call a kid a "poor kid" because of its name?!!Too childish to pay attention too on this forum,
maybe the CoM at other forums give waste of space to this sort of thing...we don't do that here. :-X
Anyway,I love the names.

I've never previously heard of a prince called Vincent, but it is a decent traditional sort of name. Is it used much in the Scandinavian world, and is it actually vincent there or is that the anglicised version?

I do agree that silly names are a burden, but Vincent does not come into this category.

Here is the family tree of the Laborde de Monpezat.

I couldn't find any Vincent so the name is maybe given just to "touch" the french side.

The official photo after the christening.
Mary holding the prince and Frederik the princess. Mary is wearing the same headband as she did to the christening of her two eldest children, and also the beautiful brooch of a sapphire, pearls and diamonds the Queen gave her when Christian was born. Between their parents, the two cuties Isabella and Christian who, in my opinion, stole the entire picture at the christening. Especially Isabella, she's a real little imp and so adorable. ;D

Hi,

Beautiful picture!

Gorgeous children - and I like the names, Vincent & Josephine;  they are different and royalty needs to adopt new names, in my opinion...
