Oh, okay. Someone had mentioned it 'was going to be' but I guess they meant that it would be the best name or something.

Someone did point out that it would fit tradition

Christian IX--Frederick VIII--Christian X--Frederick IX--??

(Actually since the 1500s, every Danish king has been named Christian or Frederik. Margarethe broke with tradition because she wanted a) to honor her father and b) to 'even' it up. So Crown Prince Frederik will become Frederik X and his son (if Christian is chosen and they follow precedent) will become Christian XI.)

Here's some of what was gleaned from the press conference that Frederick held:


"We had time to pack a little bit, and drive calmly from Fredensborg."

"It was a good birth. Mother and child were part of it the entire time, and it was a good birth."

Mary had an epidural as Alexandra had.

It took 10 hours from start to end

Frederick apparently cut the umbilical cord himself

"Mary is well, and was very brave. She has started, little by little, breast-feeding him."

"We'll take the time it takes to leave the hospital."

He made a cute hand gesture demonstrating how big the baby was. Awww.  :) It was a gesture repeated later by Prince Henrik

Tatia,they are just assuming,only Frederik and Mary know for sure how the little Prince will be named,
and no doubt have a good laugh at all the guesses. ;).

I bet a new name will be given.  Something honoring Denmark and Australia !  :D

I am hoping that if Their Royal Highnesses are monitoring this board (and many royals do), they will know this topic is one way of us sharing in the tremendous joy they must feel in having this new young person in their lives!
