That is a very odd photo. She looks so scared of Albert. That is Albert, isn't it? So out of character for her to be like that, unless of course they were just fooling around.  If the latter is true, shows how Victoria wasn't at all the "we are not amused" queen many people think she was.

They always looked to me as if they were in the midst of a disagreement; Victoria's giving him that "we are not amused" look!

I believe they thought one should look very serious for photos!  This was taken at Osborne

Well, he was quite tall, and she was quite short, and she had to crane pretty far to be able to look up at him like that.  It didn't look comfortable for her.  Victoria's natural expression, especially as she aged, always seemed to me to be quite stern and "not amused".  In actual fact, she was often "amused"...but she was often in a bad temper as well.

I think this is one the photographs (along with the group photo of the Romanovs taken for there Tricentenary) that triggered my interest in Royalty!
