I recommend!)) And "Тише едешь - дальше будешь" was a table game too, not the very famous game that looks like "Mother May I". It was a surprise for me.

For the record, the game mentioned on that site as Блошки (bloshki, i.e., little fleas) is known as tiddlywinks in English.

Perhaps someone can help us with a related question.

In a letter to Lili Dehn, G. D. Maria writes: "...I often remember coffee, and "Stop", and many other things."

Perhaps "Stop" was some sort of parlor game too?

Any ideas?

There's a pretty good chance the game "Stop" would be the children's game known in the USA ,at least, as "Red light, green light". Red and green traffic lights would not be a phenomenon  well known to Russian children by this time (1917-18), but the idea of sneaking up on a player without being seen , surely would be.

Btw, Inok Nikolai, do you have the date for this letter of GD Marie's?
