I have seen those statues of the King & Queen at St Denis in a photo. It was nicely made.

Yes, the statues of the king and Queen at St Denis are indeed beautiful. There are also statues of them with Mme Elisabeth at the expiation chapel  on the Rue d'Anjou which I have never seen, but would like to, if anyone has a picture.

It would be great to see Madame Elisabeth too, but I think one of Princess de Lambelle should be built. If so any idea where she should stand ?

I quite agree! Madame Elisabeth certainly deserves a fitting memorial  :) She was so good.

In Walters Gallery of Art in Baltimore, Maryland there is a  lifesize sculptured profile of the Princess de Lamballe, in white against pale blue, very lovely. I wish I had a postcard of it. I think it was made during her lifetime, so it was not a memorial or anything.

I think I recall reading that Mme Elisabeth is portrayed *somewhere* in the Chapelle Expiatoire, perhaps on the walls; I cannot tell.  Maybe there is some mention of Mme de Lamballe in the decorations on the wall ??? I know somewhere inside they quote the words of Elisabeth, when she begged to take the place of the queen so that she would be massacred by the mob who invaded the Tuileries in June 1792. But none of the Royal Family were killed that day....

I would love to go inside someday but meanwhile it is great just to see a picture.

It was in the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland - a small gallery as galleries go, and privately owned, I think, but with a rare and unusual collection of treasures, including the Gatchina palace egg, created by Peter Carl Faberge for Empress Marie Feodorovna. It has several artifacts from Versailles as well.

Yes, I knew a woman who in her youth once sewed for the Warfield family. Old Maryland aristocracy, such as it is. Some French emigres came there, escaping the Revolution. I think the Walters family collected many things from Versailles. It is good that they were able to save an image of Mme. de Lamballe.

Poor Madame de Lamballe is so often shrugged off as a neurotic, and she was a bit highstrung, but she was a woman not only of great beauty, but of courage, because she stayed with the Royal Family when everyone else had abandoned them.

One thing I discovered which surprised me is that she was very interested in freemasonry. I've read that she was the head of a lodge in the 1780s ( this was while she was out of favour at court). Anyone know if this is true?
