Exhibition Catalogues
« on: July 18, 2004, 09:24:02 AM »
I just received my book from the exhhibition, Nicholas and Alexandra, At Home with the Last Tsar. It's a nice book, and a welcome edition to my ever growing collection of Romanov books. I've only had a chance to glance through it, but I would recommend it to those who can't attend the exhibition.

Have a great and wonderful sunny, Sunday

Louise

Does anyone know where I can buy the Nicholas and Alexandra exhibitionb catalogue? (the one with OTMA's portraits by Kaulbach)

I have this one by George Vilinbakhov, Galina Komelova, Alia Barkovets:

And what about the exhibition catalogue of Amsterdam?

Do you know more informations (autor, ISBN, etc)? ???

Thanks in advance for reply!

Hello Lisa,

As far as i know those portraits were sold in the 1920-30s and have never been exhibited. In fact, we do not know even who bought them. Have you ever seen them in any exhibition?? That would be the new of the year!( at least for me...) :)

Lisa,

Eurohistory sold the Amsterdam catalogue at the beginning of October and we actually sold out of copies.  Ihave ordered more copies since we have about a dozen people waiting for copies of it.  let us know if interested.

Antonio, I never see them but here is a quote from Sarai:
Quote
I However, in the Nicholas & Alexandra exhibition catalogue (pg. 11), one can see all four Kaulbach portraits of each girl, and the one portrait that is identified as Maria on the AP site (the girl wearing the hat with the white feathers) is clearly Olga in the book.

so, I wondered if I can buy this bokk somewhere... ??? ::)

Of cousre, Arturo, I'm interested!!! :D ;)

Lisa,
The catalogue you mean is the one found on this website: http://www.newarkmuseum.org/NicholasandAlexandra/imperial_shop.html

It is the exhibition catalogue for the "Nicholas & Alexandra: At Home with the Last Tsar and His Family" exhibition.

The picture of the Kaulbach portraits is a black and white picture of the Maple Room in the Alexander Palace that happens to show all the portraits. However, these portraits are not in the actual exhibition and therefore the catalogue doesn't show large, full-color pictures of them. Sorry if I confused you. But they are interesting to see anyway, even if they are rather small and just a part of a bigger room.

What about other exhibtion catalouges?  For instance the one about Maria Feodorovna and the Copenhagen exhibiton. And the French catalogue, Un tsar à Compiegne. Has anybody here read them? Would be nice to hear opinions!

Stepan,

The maria feodorovna catalogue is extremely difficult to get now.  Eurohistrory sold about 175 copies of it...we had quite a challenge getting this very heavy book from Denmark to California...but it was well worth it...as this is one of the most amazing books I have in my Romanov collection.

Arturo, I agree, the Danish catalogue is magnificent ! How on earth did you manage to get 175 copies over here? Must have come by boat !! And cost a fortune in shipping !
I think I bought mine in London, or from you !!
Cheers,
Robert
