I do not think Alix was taller than Nikolas.  She appears taller because of her hair, haits, and her shoes.  The pictures are great, thanks for posting.

Lovely pictures.  Thank you so much for sharing them with us.  Though I too have seen most of them in my books or online, I enjoy seeing them over and over.

As for Alix being taller then Nikolai, I did read somewhere that she was around 5'9 and he around 5'6.  The hats and high piled hair probably made her around that hight, but as for Nicky, the number seems pretty correct.  After seeing his uniform, it's pretty easy to gues that he was short (for a man at least).

Are you sure the 1st picture on reply #13 is from 1917? They look too young...

You can see in the larger version that the photo has been signed, "Mama, Papa, 1917." However, I don't know if that means the photo dates from 1917, or just the signatures

This one was edited in "the Panorama" in 1901, it seems to be a montage, according to the book "Un Tsar à Compiègne ". Some people said they are in mourning for the queen Victoria and others for Empress Frederic. According to Xavier Paoli, the name of the dog is Lofki, but I am not sure of this information.

I think it is a montage--I've seen that photo of Nicholas with a different background but same pose, same outfit. Don't know a date though. It looks like the one of Alix is taken from one of the indoor photos where she's reclining.
