« on: April 15, 2006, 10:07:44 AM »
Hello, I hope this is the right palce for this request. I'm trying to find some information about English Diplomats sent to or based in Russia, in or around St Petersburg, between 1905 and 1910. Thanks

I checked the British embassy in Russia and found this list of British Ambassadors, Envoys Extraordinary, and Ministers Plenipotentiary to Russia from 1762-2004. I hope this helps.

Hello, Thanks again for the pdf. I took a look into it and here is the listing of the people I am interested in.

1895 Sir. N.R. O'Conor Ambassador
1896 H.R.H. The Duke of Connaught Special Ambassador
1897 W.E. Goschen Minister Plenipotentiary
1898 Rt. Hon. Sir C.S. Scott Ambassador
1904 Rt.Hon Sir C. Hardinge Ambassador
1906 Rt.Hon. Sir A. Nicolson bart Ambassador
1910 Rt.Hon Sir George Buchanan Ambassador

1: Any idea how I find out information about other Embassy staff? 'Diplomats'

2: I'm not having much luck finding out information about the lives of these men prior to WWI. One question I'm trying to answer is did any of these men sponsor the education and training of young men from Russia prior to WWI or in the 1920's-30's?
