And who was Prince Alexander Dimitrievich Sheremetev? How is he related to the above mentioned. By the way do the Sheremetev also hold a princely title? I though they were just counts. Nice picture. Thank you
AkshayChavan:
"Prince" Cheremetiev mentioned is a mistake. The Person in the photo is Count AD Sheremetev, Brother of SD Sheremetev. Interestingly their father Count Dimitri was son of Praskovya a serf actress who married Count Nikolai Sheremetev. There was also Nizhi Novgorod Branch of the family who were untitled. If i am not wrong Vladimir Sheremetev belonged to that branch. They had no title or were simple Barons
Here is a link to Count AD Sheremetev's Palace which is now a hotel

The attribution of "Prince" Cheremetiev is a direct quote from the book of photographs from the 1903 Imperial Fancy Dress Ball.

Another piece of info, Countess Alexandra Alexandrovna Sheremetev , daughter of Count AD Sheremetev was married to Sergei Vladimirovich Sheremetev. He belonged to untitled branch of the Sheremetev family and was son of Vladimir Sheremetev. He was related to Romanovs through his mother Countess Elena Stroganova who was the only daughter of Maria Nikolaievna and Count Stroganov.

So is everyone (or most people) with the last name sheremetev a descendent of this noble family? In another post, someone said there are 2 main branches. Are they related or unrelated? is the spelling interchangeable? Is there a family tree I can look up somewhere? I also heard there was an airport. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
