Maria Amalia of Sxony, married Carlos III, "Carlet", when she was 14 years old (she was 8 years younger than he). After the first night  together, Maria Amalia was absolutly in love. Carlos was a very passionate man and they becamed one of the happiest of our royal couples.

They moved to Naples, where Carlos was the king, as Carlos VII, one year after their wedding they had their first child, a girl. They would have 12 more children, 13 in total. After all those pregnacies, Maria Amalia was exahusted and prematury old, but Carlos continued in love with her. He only disagreed with her habitude of smoking. She smoked too much.

When his half-brother, Fernando VI, died, Carlos, arrived to Spain as Carlos III. Maria Amalia was not happy to leave Naples, but died shortly after. Carlos III always remembered her as his beloved wife, and didn´t have any other love.

Maria Amalia brought the Capodimonte porcelaine to Spain. There is a famous Chinese room in La Granja or Aranjuez. All the walls are decorated with Chinese motifs. Wonderful. She also brought the tradition of "El Belén" of Christmas from Naples. It was the first figured "Belén" in Spain. The nobility imitated it very soon.

The Chinese Room is in the Palace of Aranjuez.

It's a really beautiful room, especially the colors. It has been restorated some years ago.

Smoked much? Oh, I imagine those wonderful family scenes when the Queen was smoking like a chimney and poor King was coughing and muttering!

I read that Carlos III (after the death of his wife) obeyed the continence the rest of his life...

When King Carlo VIII of the Two Sicilies became King Carlos III of Spain (succeeding his brother King Fernando VII) in 1759, did all his children (except Ferdinando IV-III-I) leave with him for Spain?

Does anyone have pictures or a biography about Queen Maria Amalia of Spain (née Pss and Dss of Saxony, and Pss of Poland), the wife of King Carlo of Naples and Sicily, later on Carlos III of Spain?

Maria Amalia Christina Franciska Xaveria Flora Walpurgis (November 24, 1724 [ch8211] September 1760) was a princess of Saxony. Her parents were King Friedrich August II [ch8216]der Starke[ch8217] of Poland and Archduchess Maria Josepha, who was Empress Maria Teresa[ch8217]s cousin.
Maria Amalia was born as a fourth child of fourteen. In 1738 she got married to Charles III of Spain at the time King of Napoli in Sicilia. They had thirteen children; however, only seven reached adulthood.
In September 1760, Maria Amalia died from tuberculosis in her 36[ch8217]th year.

Maria Josepha was very fertile indeed...a feature her descendants inherited...

She had a good genealogical background, with a nice mixture of Catholic and Protestant families, Southern and Northern families...

She was a nice queen and her husband loved her tenderly. When she was died from tuberculosis, Carlos III said something like this: "After twenty two years in marriage, this is the first sorrow that I felt caused for Amalia".

Why didn't Maria Amalia want to become Queen of Spain, I would assume that title would have been more important than that of Queen of Naples and Sicily even if Naples and Sicily were great and wealthy kingdoms? 

Was she just not into power and prestige?  Maybe she wanted to be like her husband?
