Romanov art for my walls
« on: December 12, 2005, 11:12:13 AM »
Hello everyone !

I'm looking for a large poster or painting of the last Imperial Family for my apartment. I've spent quite some time online without finding a suitable object to buy. Do you have any idea where I could find a nice and quite large painting ? Money is not an issue.

Regards

/Gud bevare Tsaren

Well, there is this catalogue, I don't know if you recieve it in Sweden, and there is a reproduction of the painting of Nicholas II by Serov.
I am not sure of the size, but you can find it in earlier issues of this catalogue.
I will post the link to the site of that catalogue if I can...
(I need to find the catalogue ::))

Alright, the catalogue is called, "Treasures From A Bygone Era", and it has a whole section devoted to Imperial Russian antiques.
Here's the link
There is a virtual catalog, thought I think it may be under home decor.
Remember, this was an old issua, so it'll take some sleuthing....
(I'll try to find it)

Great idea Gud bevare Tsaren, I have a little dresser in the corner in my room with all my Russian collectables, matroyshka dolls and lacquer boxes, books etc. as well as photos of the Imperial Family, it's a very neat little "corner of Russia" You'll have to show us pictures when your done decorating.
Thanks for sharing all the catalogs too everyone!

:o LarissaAnn, the Romanov family pics you have, are they the original real things or printed out versions on photo paper?

Most unfortunatly they are printed versions, I actually cut them out of some of my books like The Romanovs The Final Chapter.  I figured they're either going to sit in my book, or I could display them.  Wow, wouldn't orignals be AWESOME though??

lol thats what I do.
Yes, originals would be "Da Bomb!!" ::) :P
I actually found a Russian site where they were auctioning off some originals of informals of the Tsarevich.
As you could imagine, though, the starting prices were at around $800! :o I'm only 13!! can't ask my parents for THAT sort of allowance! ;)
