I've just finished a book on King Karl I. of Württemberg, the Author did a great job and also wrote Bios of the other three Württembergian Kings and one on Wera Konstantinowa. Also a good book on Karl-Olga-Wera is the Diary of Olgas Lady-in-waiting Eveline von Massenbach.
Here are some facts:
- The Reason that Karl and Olga had no children, was the result of two Gonorrhea deseases in Karls youth which made him Infertile
- Wera was a very naughty girl when she came to Württemberg, she even kicked King Karl with her foot one time, he hit her back and Olga cried
- In 1870/71 in the Franco-German war Wera was proud and enthusiastic for the victories of the Württembergian Army
- Wera really liked Kaiser Wilhelm II. (Karl and Olga did not) and had also busts of Bismarck and von Moltke in her home
- Karl and Olga enjoyed Weras children Olga and Elsa very much.
One time Weras new dog drank the content of Elsas potty, it caused some trouble in the family and Elsa said: "I'll fill it up soon."
- Wera created the "Weraheim" a house for young pregnant and unmarried women, a scandal at that time and Wera didn't had any support by church or financial help, so she had to pay and organize all by herself. The Weraheim still exist today.
- She also was patroness of the Nikolauspflege, a institution for blind people. This is also still existing.
- After her convert to Lutherismn in 1909 Wera built the Heilandskirche (church) in Berg
- Wera was the favourite member of the Württemberg Royal Family
- Wera was very close to her mother-in-law and sister-in-law
