I'd like to find out more information on William Eugen, Vera's husband.  All that I can find on him is that his marriage to Vera was arranged, partly so she did not have to leave her adopted country, and that he was killed in a duel.  Is there an account of his opinion of the marriage?  So many saw Vera as homely and difficult, yet she became quite devoted to her husband.  Was the feeling mutual?

Vera's Wikipedia article has little information on William Eugen, and he doesn't have his own entry in English.  I'd like to find out more about William Eugen and his thoughts on his wife.

It would be interesting to know more about the real cause of death of Vera's husband. What duel was it and the reason of such duel. Maybe he had a lover?
