Sorry, pressed the wrong button - So it would appear that there are several ways in which QV could have developed the haemophilia gene to pass on to her descendents without her mother having to take a lover other than the Duke of Kent.  In fairness, I think Packard was attempting to argue the question on scientific grounds rather than having a bee in his bonnet about the Duchess of Kent, but did not have a broad enough scientific knowledge to see that there were other possibilities than a strong likelihood that QV was illigitimate.

Queen Victoria  resembled her father  the Duke of kent   just look at the portraits  and she resembled other members of the Hanoverian  royal family and also the duke of kent  thought she was his daughter

Excellent new biography of Queen Victoria's father, focusing on his impact on Canadian history
