I haven't really paid much attention to Anne over the years, but these pictures are riveting. In the way that a traffic accident can be. That last painting --- did the artist have a grudge? I lived through the 60s and 70s, and I can kind of see what she was sort of going for in the "I look romantic! I look romantic!!!! hairdos, but these later looks? Just . . . golly. When Diana stood between Anne and early Fergie ("What's wrong with lateral stripes? Huh?"), the Princess of Wales must have been one smug girl.

This looks like it was part of the cover shoot for Vogue--the dress seems the same.

THAT is the best photo of her that I have ever seen!

She almost looks beautiful in this image......Great styling and the jewels are lovely.....

I have to agree that those thin brows giver her a very mean look (and she really does not need help in that quarter.....!)

Addendum:  You have to give her this as well - she looks pretty youthful and well preserved for a woman in her fifties - maybe she's inherited a gene or two from Great Great Grandmother Alix?

Oh Grace please!

I know a few ladies of an equivalent age who are,as you put it rather clinically,'well preserved' (makes them sound like they should n aspic...), and they look much better than she does, and have less means to do so.

They don't dress like the local Oxfam shop, nor do they style their hair like a junior Mrs Pepperpot.....

Look at some of the other royal ladies , such as Pcss Alexandra, the Duchess of Kent (both older), the Duchess of Gloucester (about the same age) - all much better groomed and presented.....

Bosh and oysters!

The majority of women of 55 who are in the public eye like her have at least one eye/facelift behind them or a truckload of botox anyway!

Yes, the Duchess of Kent is beautifully groomed but, frankly, does not look young in the face.  The others are okay but credit where it's due, Martyn, credit where it's due...

She looks "well preserved" (!) for someone who's probably never even slapped on a bit of moisturiser!!  :o ;D
