Well, certainly she is no "fashion plate", but she is in fine shape for a woman her age.  She reminds me a bit of two past Princess Royals.....Vicky, Empress of Prussia for her 'fashion sense', and Princess Mary  in general appearance.

Yes she reminds me of those two very much Speedycat. Aldo more Princess Mary than Vicky, and she resembles the Princess Royal in between (Louise Fife) at some points too. Louise wasn't the ''fashion icon'' either. Certainly not when she got older.

All four intellegent women forced by Nature to be in the shadow of elder brothers who are kings.  Not an easy lot for a woman with a mind of her own.  All four are fine examples of duty, dignity and motherhood...and Anne the sportswoman as well.

Having seen the new official portrait to mark the 60th birthday of HRH The Princess Royal, it struck me that she has rarely worn her hair 'down' since the early 1970s which seems sad.

In her 40th and 50th birthday photographs she wore it down and looked great, but since then it has been in her usual regal style. The Queen has also kept to the same hair style for most of her adult life, so perhaps we will still see The Princess Royal with her trademark hair in her eighties.

The most notable change I have noticed lately is that she appears to be letting her hair go 'lighter' - dare I say grey?!

There seems to be some sniping in the media about the timing of Zara and Mike Tindall's engagement, the implication being that they are 'stealing the thunder' of William and Kate!

I donĀ“t think they would steal their thunder. But Zara must be more popular if this is so.

I am terribly puzzled. Anne, the Princess Royal was once 4th in line to the throne, after Prince Charles and then his sons, William and Harry. So why did she plummet to 10th place after the birth of Prince Andrew's daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice?

Shouldn't she technically still be in front of Andrew, Beatrice, and Eugenie, since she is the eldest sibling after Prince Charles?
