Favorite Perfume?
« on: November 19, 2005, 11:21:46 AM »
I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'm sorry if this question has already been posted :) Did Anastasia or her sisters have a favorite perfume? If so, what fragrance? I was thinking about buying something similar ;D

Yes, and it's interesting to note that they were all manufactured by "Coty" which of course is still around--so you might be able to find something very similar indeed!!  :D

That's great ;D I thought I would just be finding some cheap imitation but this will work :D Does anyone know if the 'Coty' brand is super expensive or just average?

Yes, I was once surpised when I saw Coty on some perfume that I had, and I remembered the Grand Duchesses used it, and I thought well, I would have thought it is really expensive stuff. I wish we knew exactly what these scents that OTMA liked smelled like. Scents always bring up memories, at least for me, so I am  sure their favorite scents did  have associations for the Grand Duchesses.

I thought it would be unbelievably expensive. Maybe it was more expensive in the early 1900’s? Anyway, I’m one relieved women right now lol. ;D To bad I don't have a Walgreens around here:'( I will find it though ;)

I would imagine you could find Coty perfumes at several places. I don't know if they still carry it, but I seem to recall seeing some Coty fragrances at Wal-Mart--and no, they are not the least bit expensive! I was amazed when I read that the Grand Duchesses wore Coty perfumes, I would have expected them to wear some priceless and exotic concoction from Paris or something! But then again, I do remember reading somewhere that the girls were given small (and I mean small!) allowances by their father to buy things like perfume and candy and other incidentals for themselves, which meant that in spite of the family's wealth, in cases like this they were on a pretty tight budget! So funnily enough, maybe Coty was all they could afford!! :D

I found it! And it was only 16,200 lira (about $9.00 american money). I found the rose scent. I'm not sure if it is exactly like Olga's but it smells heavenly. I was at this little sidewalk store (Lady Lydia or something like that ???) and I found like 20 bottles. They had violette also but seeing as I blow my money on junk I didn't have enough to get it ::)
