Ooooooh Goodie goodie gum drops!!!!!

Like you say Robert most certainly sounds like a quality British production with a lovely stellar cast! I used to think Helena B-C was a bit of a waste of space until I saw her in 'Sweeny Todd', now I look on her with a sort of wry fondness!

I can;t wait to see this film! It really does sound most interesting! Sir Michael Gambon played Edward VII in 'The Lost Prince' and now he is playing George V! Goodness he is getting to hog all those regal roles! Timothy Spall should be marvelous as Churchill too!

Why isn't Queen Mary playing a part in this movie? How on earth can they leave her out!

I am very much looking forward to this. What a pleasant surprise! Interesting casting choice with Helena. I can't imagine her playing HMQEQM at all, but will wait and see. And, I totally agree with royal_netherlands...how in the world could HM Queen Mary be left out of the cast! But, I'm tickled just knowing that a new royal bio-pic is on the way either on the big or small screen...doesn't matter to me. Yea!

Yes, I checked in imdb.com (and they have everyone down to 'uncredited' listed) and there's no Queen Mary.

That does seem odd, as she was the mother of this tribe. My guess would be she just fit into the story? Pity. as she is my favourite of that lot. The most interesting.

That looks interesting,  the only adaption I'm aware of concerning Bertie and Elizabeth is the one titled "Bertie and Elizabeth."

In one scene there is a photoboard and there is a few pics of the IF.

I meant  Queen Mary did NOT fit into the story of George VI  stammer problem- perhaps. In any case, I look foreword to it.

In a recent interview fashion designer Zandra Rhodes commented that the QM had good taste in clothes. I loved the QM's look in the 50s & 60s, the hats, the drapped dresses the furs, the high heels, very smart & feminine.

I agree with you 100%, Eddie. Her look was PERFECTION in the 1950s and 60s. The Queen Mother sort of stuck with variations on that look for the rest of her life, but never with as much success as she enjoyed during those two decades, but a Queen to the last breath. HM QE II also had a style heyday in the 1950s and (early) 1960s, imo. The last few years she has had some great looks, but just doesn't seem as interested in all that stuff as her mother was. That's ok; she has other interests.

She was a lovely lady and whatever the press has now come out and said about her - after her death -  well we all have one in the family.

I met the Queen Mother on two occasions.  Once in 1985 at a concert at Westminster Abbey and as a guest of the Royal Box at the Grand National in 1991. Maybe it was her choice of hats but the first impression I had was that I was meeting Paddington Bear.  She was shorter than I imagined and very regal.  The time at Aintree was a period of about 4 hours when I got to observe her a bit more closely She didnt talk to me a lot but seemed to know who some of my mother's relatives were.  She knew that I was from Canada and we spoke about her trip there and how much she liked Canada.  Near the end of the race meeting, she dropped a gold pencil that she had been marking her betting cards with and the interesting thing was that she ordered everyone to get down of their hands and knees to look for it.  She was in a bit of a panic, so there was Lord Carrington, Emma Freud and a number of other notables on the floor looking for the penciil.  The pencil was eventually found and after a round of drinks, the lunch race meeting broke up.

I've been with her nine times and she NEVER ordered anybody to do such a thing.
