You mean a way that wouldn't have left a mark on her body?

Well, if it came to leaving no mark, poison is the only thing that springs to mind, and this would of course need the co-operation of the servants . . .

I agree, especially if they were paid well. They might, of course, have been devoted to Amy, but we don't know that.

I guess in this scenario, "they" could have snapped her neck and then thrown her down the stairs :o

i don't think there's anything about this case that we actually know. everything could be just the gossip of the times that got mistaken for facts later

But now you get into murky ground.  ;) If that staircase was pretty shallow, then surely any killer would have realised that it would never be taken seriously as a suicide attempt? Oops, sorry, I read too many crime novels.  ;D

But surely, it doesn't matter if the staircase wasn't particularly steep. Doesn't it depend on HOW you fall/land? I have heard of people (not elderly/frail) falling off the pavement and dying due to the impact on a particular part of the anatomy ??? Just a thought.

maybe she didn't die instantly but bled to death.

the problem is we don't know the actual cause of death, do we?

Oh, poor Kim.  ;) ;D

Well, let's look at what we do know:

-Amy Dudley died.
-She died in Cumnor Place.
-On the day of her death the servants had been sent to a local fair.
-People who would have benefited by her death include her husband Robert (possible aspirations to marry the Queen), William Cecil (looking perhaps to blackening Dudley's name) and the Queen herself (though I don't seriously believe this).
-Amy was ill before she died.

Anything else we know for a certainty?

Pure speculation now but if she was ill of "a canker of the breast", there was no treatment that would result in a cure in those days.
If Robert knew about this, why wouldn't he wait for nature to take its course...which wouldn't be prolonged and he would come out of it without a stain on his character. He could play the part of the grieving widower and then carry on with life, whichever direction that would take him :-/
