I look more closely the picture and  there is obviously an error in the pictures's caption of the book, if it is Maria the dress is really too long for the year. Maybe 1913, and I have now a doubt about the identity of the child  ???

It is Maria. Naysta looks to be 14 or so. That would make Maria 16.

I made a BIG mistake, that is not Tatyana! ::)
Yes, I just looked more closely and the one on the right is Maria, judging by her ...upper body's, um, figure :-[
But, if Maria was 16 and Anastasiya 14, then Aleksei would be 11.  :-/I don't think that Aleksei looks to be 11 years old there.

Because I think that when he was 11, he became more..less frail-looking. He was also wayyyy taller and did not wear sailor suits when he was 11. Especially sailor HATS.
When Aleksei was 11 years old, he wore more military clothes like his father.

Yes that's true, so if the war started in 1914, Alyosha was 10 and started to wear the army uniforms, so maybe that picture was taken when Alyosha was 9.
