There are many portraits of the beautiful Bavarian Princesses

Elisabeth, Queen of Prussia, nicknamed Elise
Elisabeth and her sisters were tutored by Friedrich Thiersch, an archaeologist and former theologian. He taught them literature, history and geography. She had a wonderful childhood with her sisters in Nymphenburg and Tegernsee.
The marriage between Elisabeth and Friedrich Wilhelm IV was a love match. Â They met in Baden-Baden where her family was visiting its health spa. It is very clear why FWIV fell for Elisabeth, who was very beautiful with wonderful eyes. Â However, Elisabeth did not want to convert for the sake of marriage. Â She wanted to be committed and so it took her 4 years before she converted and married. Â
Elisabeth was said to be very political influential.
"After the revolution of March 1848 her husband, king Friedrich Wilhelm IV, never really recovered, and she became his closest advisor. After he suffered several strokes, she arranged that her brother-in-law, Prince Wilhelm, became regent. He was a liberal and reformist polititian and the party around General Leopold von Gerlach got the idea to name the Queen regent, but she refused. They had no children and when her husband died in 1861, Wilhelm became king. She spend the rest of her life traveling through Europe, and lived (1801-73)." From
