Yes Princess Clementine ! The Duke of Alencon's grandmother, his mother Victorie was her daughter.

No, Clementine was Victoire's sister in law.   Victoire married Clementine's brother while Clementine married Victoire's brother.

Maximilian, Caroline's son, died of meningitis. In 1799 she had a stillborn son, too.

I think it is the same pose too...could be painted around the same time.

This portait was painted shortly before their marriage in September 1828 in Tegernsee, because its title is "Duke Max in Bavaria and Princess Louise of Bavaria".

In the background of this portrait you can see the Castle of Tegernsee.

Has anybody ever been to the Church St. Quirinus in Tegernsee? There are four memory plates of the weddings of Max/Ludovica and Amelie/Wilhelm Urach, one is dedicated to Queen Caroline and the other one to King Max I. Very nice.

They are very interesting to read, for example there is a list of every single person who attended to Ludovica's wedding.

Elisabeth (Elise), Amalie Auguste's twin-sister, and her husband Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia.

This box was a present of "Louis, Auguste, Charlotte, Charles, Elise, Amélie, Sophie, Marie, Louise, Caroline" to their father Maximilian I. on October 12th 1816.

This portrait of Amalie Auguste can be seen in lots of German books, for example "König Johann - Zwischen zwei Welten". It was painted by Joseph Karl Stieler in 1823. In the background you can see the Tegernsee and parts of Rottach-Egern (for example the church St. Laurentius). When Amalie married Johann, she took this portrait with her, because she loved the area around Tegernsee, where she spent a lot of time during her childhood.

Here are some photographs of Amalie Auguste in her later years:

Amalie Auguste is sitting in the carriage with her grandchildren Maria Josepha, Max and Albert.
Marie, Amalie's sister, is standing on the balcony.

Thanks for the info ! There was a gap before Luise of Tuscany came along with her bio, and even that was heavily bised ! Is there  books to buy for the House of Saxony and the two sisters ? I need to finish my research on the two sisters of Saxony. (I got Ludovika, Elise, Sophie covered pretty well but not the others).
