I think it is an "idealised" portrait of her. Her sister who married Eugene, stepson of Napoleon was the beauty.

Indeed. Napoleon considered the idea of marrying her once but quickly changed his mind after seeing the princess.

Yes, it is sad, that Auguste Amalia (or Amalia Augusta) was great beauty, but I know only one picture of her:

I never thought it could be her mother Auguste, but come to think of it, the dress looks more like fashion of early 1800's rather than 1830's when Amelie was a young woman. So I guess it was misidentified.

I found it in the marvellous book "Die Herzen der Leuchtenberger" (means "The Leuchtenbergs' Hearts") by Adalbert Prince of Bavaria. He is a family member and identified her as Auguste, so I guess he's right.

That's not Auguste but Queen Pauline of Württemberg with her son Karl by Stieler.
