Princess Sophie of the Netherlands,GDss of Saxe-Weimar

Princess Sophie leaving her homeland. On 15 october 1842 she left, together with her newborn husband Carl August, Dutch soil and shipped in Rotterdam travelling  to her new home in Weimar. Behind Sophie you see Carl August and left of him, the three brothers of Sopie the princes Henry, Alexander and William. Shortly before she left she wrote a letter to her parents on Dutch soil. This letter is received by the captain general of the Royal Navy.

Sophie`s Son, the heir Carl August of Sachsen Weimar Eisenach. He married in 1873 with princess Pauline of Sachsen Weiar, through her mother princess Augusta of Wurttemberg (sister of queen Sophie of the Netherlands) also related to the Dutch court.

Hereditary grandduke of Sachsen Weimar Eisenach Carl August painted in 1855. He was the son of princess Sophie.

Carl August Wilhelm Nicolaus Alexander Michael Bernhard Heinrich Friedrich Stephan, Hereditary Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (Weimar 31 Jul 1844-Cap Martin, France 20 Nov 1894); m.Friedrichshafen 26 Aug 1873 Pauline Pss of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1852-1904). Pauline was a first cousin to queen Sophie of the Netherlands. The mother of princess Pauline was princess Auguste of Wurttemberg, sister of queen Sophie.

Elisabeth was one of the daughters of grandduchess Sophie.

I think that the portrait you posted is of Maria Pavlovna,just painted when she was still a girl...and of course she was later Grand Duchess von Sachsen-Weimar und Eisenach...
