Wouldn't morphine have helped? (or isn't morphine like, the equivalent to heroine???) Was he too young? I read somewhere that they didn't give it to him because they thought he might get addicted to it? Is this true? I also read that morphine was rare to get..... :o

I also read that they didn't give it to him because of the chance he'd get addicted. And I believe too much morphine can kill, so that may have been another factor.

I read that Alexey has been given morphine in 1912 because they thought he was dying.
Btw they were giving him aspirin which reduces his pain but caused him to bleed longer, because in those times aspirin's effect of delaying to clot was unknown.
