Tatiana's Physical Appearance

Hi!
I have a question: Tatiana was said to be an "Euroasian beauty", but I think her looks resemblances very much to those of her great-grandmother, Tsaritsa Maria Alexandrovna. Is it just me or do you have the same opinion?

There is some resemblance, I guess I think that Tatiana resembled her father, who got his looks from his mother, I think. The colouring of Marie Alexandrovna seems to resemble Tatiana a bit more, or at least it resembles colourizations of Tatiana photos, I have seen.

Her eyes are Tatiana's exactly, I just realized that, right now.

Interesting - I always thought she resembled her mother mostly, but yes, I see the resemblance to MA as well!  I love how genetics work.  : )

The dark hair of Tatiana can be another contribution of Maria Alexandrovna to her
grand granddaughter, OMA, don't look like MA... or yes?

It makes sense... Alexander III's eyes were shaped like his mother's, and Nicholas's eyes were shaped like his father's.  Tatiana had eyes shaped like her father's, so therefore her eyes = Maria Alexandrovna's eyes. : )

They are similar, yes...But I realized it only today, after watching Maria Alexandrovna's portrait. Of course the "Euroasian" thing it's relative...Nicholas II had not very much Russian blood in his veines, and much less his daughters. I must to go check my Robert K. Massie's book just to remeber the exact cipher, but I think he wrote that Nicholas had only 1% of Russian blood or something over the lines of it.

They look alike, the eyes especially. Tatiana has inherited the German blood much, I think so. Maria Alexandrovna is German Princess.

According to Massie, Nicholas was 1/128th Russian, and his children 1/256 Russian. I tried calculating it myself on the basis that Peter the Great was 100% Russian and all his successors married foreigners, and it works.

Just for fun, I tried doing the same with George V and working out how much British blood he had. From a starting point that Edward IV was 100% English (he wasn't, but I needed a starting point), I got to fractions of 10,000ths and gave up.

I had noticed that too! They did look a lot like each other, which is really interesting! 

And even more curious is the fact that she was not the only member of the family who took it. Maria Alexandrovna's granddaughter and Tatiana's distant cousin, Irina Pavlovna seems to have a little from her grandmother too. Felix Yussupov even noted that on his memoires.

Interesting comparison, Sara- I agree with you. I would also add that Irina, Tatiana's first cousin and Xenia's daughter, shared these looks, in my opinion.

With this photos you can see more the similarities, although they were far members of the family.
But is true too that Nichola's children, and Nicholas too had several different bloods mixed, specially
German one.

Most of the Russian tsars married German women, thus the Romanov line became more Germanized.
I see big similarities between the two Irina (Paley and Frau Yussupova) and Tatiana.
Tatyana looks like her great grandmama here (hmm?)
