Hi everyone.  ;) Here's a thread to discuss the dukes and duchesses of Brittany, for so long thorns in the side of the French king. ;D

House of Nantes/Naoned

   * Alan II Wrybeard (reigned as a duke from 937 to 952)
   * Drogo, son (reigned from 952 to 958)
   * Hoel I, brother (reigned from 960-981 as a duke, but controlled only the county of Nantes/Naoned)

It was after he was dismissed from the service of Duke François II that Jean Meschinot, former "equerry of the body and chamber" of the ducal house under five dukes (and butler of the young Duchess (later Queen ) Anne), wrote this social-critical poem set to music about the "Princes of Britanny". Here are two nice versions:
