Does anyone have the picture when the family were on their official visit to Romania?  Maria is seated and looks like she is squinting a bit.  She has a hat on her head.  That is one of my favorite pictures of Maria.

There's yet another version of that photo around here, somewhere. One of the little children is sitting in a different position. Anyway, there's a thread about it -- maybe a search on "Romania" for the last 7 or 8 months will bring it up.

After a short wild goose chase, I found half of it. And of course, it had to be the Maria side that's missing! :-/ Laura Mabee origianally posted this, but nobody seems to have the other half...

Thanks everybody for posting those pictures.  Is this is the trip where they all "sunned" themselves to try to look unattractive to Carol?   I can see the redness in all of their faces.

I've often pondered what one means when they say Maria was "unaffected." (No, this is not me being stupid, I know what unaffected means, but not in the sense of Marie.  :P) So...does it mean that she was dim witted, or naive or ...what?  :-/

PS- Magnifique pics! I do love the one of Maria in Romania. I'll upload some of my own later, I'm just too tired/lazy to do it now, as it is 12:30.  ;)

When they say unaffected I think they mean that she was easy going with regular people and commoners and did not let her position prevent her from being friendly towards them, basically she was unaffected by her status in dealing with people.
