And if somebody, like me, is wondering about that unfamiliar word before the grand dukes' and grand duchesses' (evidently not princes and princesses') title, Благовѣрный or Благовeрный in modern Russian orthography, it means "pious" or "righteous" and was an originally Byzantine honorifc for Orthodox royalty who had lived righteous Christian lives without being saints or martyrs. It was one of Alexander Nevsky's epitaphs before he was canonized in 1547.

The definition: благоверный (for males) and благоверная (for females)

.... are titles used by the Russian Orthodox Church, which are uttered during the burial service and handed down automatically at that time to a Grand Duke or his wife.

In this context the term is more akin to "an Orthodox true believer".
