Two of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna's jewel albums will be auctioned at Bonham's.  Can only hope the buyer will have them published one day.

Very interesting. As I will be in London soon, near New Bond Street, I will see if they have a catalogue.

I think part of the pics have been included in some books on royal jewels already. But yes not in a book of its own.

They will be a prize for any jeweller or serious collector.  It would be so marvellous to see these published.

I seem to recall that there was a series on the BBC called 'The Curious Houseguest' that visited Princess Olga Romanoff who owns these albums.  She briefly displayed them and talked about how marvellous they are (plus what a shame it was to have the drawings but not the jewels themselves!) - they really did look splendid.

I wondered how long it would be before she actually parted with them..........

I wondered what happened to the actual jewels and how much Xenia was able to get out of Russia...

Photographs of four pieces of the Romanov Crown Jewels have been discovered in the U.S. Geological Survey archives.  The jewels are described as being undocumented since they are missing from the 1925 catalog  “Russia’s Treasure of Diamonds and Precious Stones” which is considered the most complete inventory of the Russian Crown Jewels.

Thank you for bringing these 4 interesting pieces to our attention! Hopefully the subsequent history and eventual location of the pieces can be established ............... if indeed they still exist in the forms depicted.
Parenthetically, I will potentially presume (as I have not presently correlated the dating) that these are NOT the alleged 4 (?) items of the so-called "Crown Jewels" that were used by the Russian Government of that time as collateral for somewhat smaller loan/s (ca. $20-25 thousand dollars) and were allegedly kept in an Irish Bank, until much later redeemed.  There is a thread concerning that subject's premise from some time back on this Forum, as I recall.                                                                 Regards,  AP.

This is an advertisement from 1953 for Maximilian furs.  The crown the lady is wearing here is the Russian imperial nupital crown and was owned by Cartier at the time. I was rather startled to see it in an advert like this I must say.

Will you believe this crown was used for Miss Universe 1952?
If only this crown could talk!
