Hey Yseult,
Besides the 9 children you mentioned, i found three other children: Diniz, Joana and Leonor, even with days of birth! One of the 3 bastard children of Joao I was already dead when he married Filippa.
Perhaps that José can tell us more after he had read the book of Stillwell.

Hi, I have a copy of "Britain's Royal Families- The Complete Genealogy" by Weir, and she lists 8 children (6 boys and 2 girls).
The Peerage.com lists the same but I also acknowlege Weir as a source.

I had only known of 9 children: Branca (1388), Afonso (1390), Duarte (1391), Pedro (1392), Henrique (1394), Isabel (1397), Branca (1398), Joao (1400) and Fernando (1402). But, given the times and the some times confusing information, why wouldn't it be possible that Philippa had given birth to three other children that might have died very young?

I think it's quite plausible. Where did you get the information from, aron?

Hey Umigon,
I found this information on http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=royal_lineage&id=I002434
but again, there aren't any sources listed...
So i will delete these persons out of my database.

By the way:
I once read that the children were named in turn after their Portuguese and British family:
Branca 1388, was named after Philippa's mother BRITISH
Alfonso 1390, was named after Joao's grandfather PORTUGUESE
Duarte 1391, was named after Philippa's grandfather BRITISH
Pedro 1392, was named after Joao's father PORTUGUESE
Henrique 1394, was named after Philippa's brother BRITISH
Izabel 1396 was named after Joao's PORTUGUESE
Branca 1398 was named after Philippa's mother BRITISH
Joao 1400 was named after Philippa's  father BRITISH
Fernando 1402, was named after Joao's brother PORTUGUESE

Izabel 1396 was named after Joao's PORTUGUESE

After whom was Izabel named?

Izabel was named after Izabel 1271-1336 of Aragon, Queen of Portugal and Saint.
