And Private Study of GDss Ekaterina

Very interesting as you can see some photos in the frames of the Romanovs standing on the tables.

A bigger version of the Private Study.

Super , Super , Super
I suppose that the picture in a Drawing room with Virgin is Murilio's one and now is in the Hermitage.

Svetabel,
Thanks for these posts and the Marble Palace as well.

I share your interest in the interiors of these fine old buildings and wish I had greater access to archives showing them.  Like so many others, we rely on your posts to learn more.

I don't know why but I have just now found these pictures Reco, they are beautiful, thank you so much for posting them.

Is this the Palace that Alexander II was visiting just prior to his murder?  Wasn't he visiting Mikhail's widow Elena or have I got my GD's wrong?  The gardens were really famous back then and the post card shows this part.  What a wonderful post card that is, can you read the date it was post marked?

Thanks again Reco, I always look for your name because I know you will be posting wonderful pictures!!

Arleen

yes, it was the palace Alexander visiting prior to his death. In fact he was visiting a daughter of GD Mikhail, GDss Ekaterina Mikhailovna, Duchess of Mecklenbourg-Strelitz.

And the postcard was published after 1895, in 191.. ??? as the palace became the Museum of the Emperor Alexander III in the end of the 1890s.

Many thanks Svetabel!

Do you happen to know why the museum was named after Alexander III?
