I don't think so. I believe his brother (Aage) did...not absolutely sure though.

No, neither Prince Axel or Princess Margaretha wrote their memoirs. Axel's brother, Prince Erik wrote a book of selected childhood memories and I think that all the children of Prince Valdemar at some point provided authors and such with info about their lives.

Princess Axel and her sisters Martha and Astrid :

According to my sources, Margareta was very close to her sister Martha, only two years her junior. A little less Astrid. But I do not know if she was particularly close or not her brother Carl Jr.

Thank you all guys for your posts.  :)

Another question how did Princess Margaretha meet Prince Axel? Do you know the story as to how they fell in love?

I think they met through relatives since they are related. Love to know their love story too.  ;)

As for their love story I recall a quote from GDss Olga Alexandrovna's letter to her mother Empress Maria Fedorovna. "So, you say they like Xenia and Sandro...". This means that Margaretha and Axel had a passionate relationship and openly expressed their feelings --- kissing and hugging in front of others was confusing for old Empress who saw them.

Countess Ruth of Rosenborg passed away today, age 86. She is survived by her four children. She was the widow of Prince and Princess Axels son, Count Flemming who died in 2002. They got married in 1949, whereupon Prince Flemming lost his title of Prince of Denmark.

No, I don't think there will be any official mourning. Countess Ruth was not a member of the Royal Family, although a highly valued relation.

Yes, Astrid does not appear on the photo because she was already dead at the time this one was taken.
