1913 court dresses
« on: March 06, 2012, 03:14:13 PM »
  Hello,

So for a few days I have been trying to make a video tribute to OTMAA. I wanted to include all the pictures of the girls in their court dresses, but as I look I can't seem to find pictures of the little pair in 1913. I would just like to know where I could find them.

Thank you :)

If they exist, I've never seen them.

The only photos of M&A in court dress that I'm aware of were taken in 1911. (In 1904 the Little Pair wore kokoshniki for Aleksei's christening, but unlike Olga & Tatiana they didn't actually wear formal court dresses for the occasion.)

I couldn't resist to ask this, I've always wondered about the same...
Why didn't the little pair had their own court gowns too unlike their sisters? Were they very young to join to those celebrations??

That has always been my understanding. When they - or at least Maria - grew up was during the War, and this "stopped" things like that. But i'm unsure - it was just a personal thought. Maybe Sarushka will know better than me.

I've never heard a specific reason. It could have been the war. And/or they may have been waiting for Maria and Anastasia to be 18 and 16, as Olga and Tatiana were when their court dress formals were taken.

Thank you very much for the help ladies! Yes, I think that deffinitively Maria and Anastasia must have been over 16 to have their formal court dresses too  :(
