I am always confused wheter to consider birthday (and other) annivesaries the original date of Julian calender or the date from Gregorian calender.... whatever the case, here a thought spared for the last Russian Emperor, who was far from perfect, but unlike many of his contemporaries and relatives had an idea of honour and heaps of best intentions.

I am always confused wheter to consider birthday (and other) annivesaries the original date of Julian calender or the date from Gregorian calender....

Did they even celebrate their birthdays (дни рождения)? I assume they celebrated their namedays (именины)?
The logical solution is to mark their birthdays New Style and their name days Old Style, isn't it?

I use New Style for everything. And yes it seems their name days were more important than their birthdays. Kind of the opposite of (most of) the west in regards to multiple important dates on the calendar...

- Old Style instead of New Style used until after the Revolution
- Name Days more important than Birthdays
- Easter the more important Christian holiday than Christmas.
