Hello everyone!  I am new to these boards and this is my very first post!

In the A&E documentary "Nicholas and Alexandra", from the late 1990's, they feature scenes from a black and white Russian film about the Romanovs.  Does anyone know the name of the film and if it is avaiable on DVD or VHS?????

The footage you are reffering to is the film "Last Days of the Last Czar"  there are many threads about it.  It is very rare and I too am trying to get my hands on it.

As I said before, it is a VERY rare film.

That is one of the many threads which discuss this film.  Also, I found a web site that claims to be selling copies... The owner told me to contact him the first week of August as he is on vacation... If any more info comes out about it I'll post it.

 ;)

Hmmm... I don't think it would help me anyways... I live in America and can not play European vhs... If you have anyway of burning onto dvd, I do have a region free dvd player.

Ohhh... btw, I think I found a web site that sells this film in English and NTSC (American vhs) so perhaps I will be able to see it.

It's just that it is so unbelievably RARE... and also from still that I have seen it is a stand out in accuracy as far as sets go.

I found  my copy in St. Petersburg last January.  The price was reasonable and it is apparently easy to find -there !  Of course you need an all-region player  for it. It is a  very good film, probably  one of if not the best made so far.

Robert, could you tell us what it is called in Russian please? It might make it easier for some of us to find copies and know it is indeed the film we are looking for, and not something with a similar title.

This is my mistake, I am sorry. The films I got in St. Petersburg is not The Last Days of the Last Tsar. They are different, in my view, suprior to that title.
I acquired TLDLT here in San Fransico some time ago from Cyrillic Films, who now seem to be out of business. I have tried to contact them for permission to transfer it to dvd, but not a word from them.
Again, I am sorry for my confusion.

I have a dvd burner which allows me to burn vhs onto dvds... I have never asked permission from a company, so Iam probably highly illegal.  If I lay my hands on a copy of this film I will make dvds to anyone who wants them!
