   Today, - Australia Day - is the day we celebate our heritage and history, going back to 1788. To all the Aussies on the forum have a great celebration and think of all those fire fighters battling the bushfires.today. :)  ;)

Yes, happy Australia Day, fellow Australians and thanks to those non-Aussies who have sent their greetings.

It is a hot night and I can see celebratory fireworks from where I'm typing this, though my big open window, interspersed with lightening, so it is quite a sight!   :D

P.S. Happy India day too!

Late this afternoon a skywriter in a small plane flew over our Canberra skies and wrote in giant puffs of smoke:

LET'S CELEBRATE!


The evening fireworks were spectacular over the lake -  a giant golden "rainbow serpent" appeared to slither across the bridge and the display ending in golden champagne that appeared to flow over most of the expanse of Commonwealth bridge down to the water below - all to the sound of music.

we have loads of australian teachers in my school so the class i mentor in had to speak in an australian accent for the day ;D
