Peter II of Yugoslavia & Queen Alexandra (nee Greece)

It was actually after World War II that Peter and Alexandra came to NYC to live -- see both their memoirs.  Their marriage failed - she tried suicide numerous times, and ended up back in Europe.  Peter had no real job skills - tried working in banking.  He had a serious drinking problem .. and was living with Eva  Maria Lowe, a Serbian born woman.  He died in denver Colorado following a liver transplant - however, Eva Maria provided false information on the death certificate as well as the release to the media  -- she stated he died in Los Angeles.  The Denver Post uncovered the story, and wrote about it.


Eva Maria later married Peter's brother, Andrej, who committed suicide some years later.

Why was Peter II buried in the USA? 

He had lived in the US since WWII, and died in Denver.  I guess with Tito running Yugoslavia, there was no chance of getting his body back there for burial.

Does anyone know anything about his life in America?  He must have lived here for over 20 years.  What jobs did he have?  It seems like I remember reading somewhere that he and Alexandra were estranged and he had a mistress.  Does anyone know if this is correct?

You will find the information in my book - as well as in the coverage of the denver post at the time.  No, he was not living in Denver  -- he was brought there because a liver had become available.  No comment on Eva Maria's behavior.

In a press release by the office of Crown Prince Alexander the Prince announced the re-burial of his father in Serbia.A due date has not been set but the plan is final.

King Petar II is to be re-buried at the Mausoleum of St.George,near Belgrade.
