Alexandra was beautiful as a young woman, but she fell apart as the marriage began to unrevel.

He looks a bit like King Umberto II in the last one, but with more hair of course.

I know...a very old thread to drag up again...but I find it odd that there seems so little about Alexandra here!

I thought she ended up living in a villa in Italy... is that right? Did she ever contemplate going home to Greece after the war and restoration of the monarchy, or was too difficult politically speaking. I believe that she and Peter drifted apart too. I would love to know more about her and her mother too!

I think that you also have a thread in Greek section about Alexandra and her mother...her position with her other relatives was not an easy one because of her, being a daughter of a King, wanting the claim to the throne or something like that...that is why she wasn't invited to many Greek gatherings...as far as I know

I think the reason...or at least part of the reason...she was not invited to many Royal gatherings was her behaviour during her marriage to King Peter...at one time for instance she was the mistress of the Hungarian millionaire Arpad Plesch (according to his later wife Ettie).Although she was far from unique in taking a lover(s) it was still perhaps not liked.

I think she was depressed, and tried to kill herself in 60s. Thanks for photos, Marc! They were elegant couple. Too bad they divorced.  :(

Goodness me, she was so beautiful! The new photos are simply wonderful... thank you Marc and Remi both!

I have always been curious as to Alexandra's position within the GRF before her marriage? How did the family respond to the quasi-defacto Princess Alexandra marrying Peter and thereafter when she became an HM, goodness the family must have had to adjusted its view significantly toward Alexandra? The dynamics of her life were amazing. Was she so very much isolated/marginalized within the GRF until she nabbed Peter, after which 'views' had to change about her status and the courtesies she could subsequently command?
