Sydney (Australia) Royal History Meet
« on: February 09, 2006, 08:47:51 PM »
I've been thinking of doing this for ages.

Thought it might be a good idea for all of us in Sydney to have a get together - we could bring along an item or book on a favourite Royal, etc.

WE could try to make the meeting place Royal related - Farm Cove in the Botannical gardens where the Queen first stepped on Australian soil?

Anyway it's just an idea - let me know if you are interested.

I've have also posted this on the Royal Portal Forum .

cheers

Kevin

Does it have to be just Sydney-ites?

What about those in other states who might want to travel?  ???

I have just sent off emails to the NSW Art Gallery and the NSW Parliament House asking if they have Royal Portraits - the Art Gallery use to have a big painting of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

Just a reminder to anyone who wants to meet up one saturday in March (the 25th).
The plan is to do a tour of Government House, then through the Botannical gardens to where Queen Elizabeth II first step on Australia soil. Then after lunch (somewhere) on to the Art Gallery where I am trying to arrange for us to view the George Haites paining of Queen Victoria passing the Houses of Parliament during her Diamond Jubilee Procession.

Let me know if you are interested by email krbrady_10@yahoo.com.au

cheers

Hey kevin,
Sorry for late notice, seems like a great idea. There are a few good royal portraits in Government House. Of course being King Edward and Queen Alexandria, but one of the Empress Fredrick of Germany (being Princess Royal), But I was not expecting to see her  :)
Regards
Brett

Excellent Brett - I have never been inside of Government House so am really looking forward to the visit there.

The gentleman from Parliament House told me that the State Library has a photo collection of the 1954 Royal Visit. So maybe if time permits we may go there.

Hey,

I'm also up for it. I'm only 14 though and I'm a "Newbie", does this matter at all?
