Figure skating men:
1-E.Plushenko
2-S.Lambiel
3-Jeffrey Buttle

Well, no surprises except for the third and Brian Joubert who is 6.

Zhang and Zhang!  Her fall stopped hearts all through the arena.

Her return to the ice and follow through to win silver was the most amazing thing I have ever seen!

I had tears in my eyes.  I hope she heals well and fast.

Really, I hoped that Evan Lisachek would be the third :(
He was brilliant at free programme.
Evgeny is a great sportsman.

Zhang and Zhang's bravery astounded me. She really showed olympic spirit, you have to admire her for that. I hope Irina S. of Russia wins the ladies event, she too has really been through alot.

I was really hoping he would make it onto the podium too. His free skate was awesome. If only he hadn't had such a terrible time in the short program.

And congrats to Yevgeny on winning the gold. He really did skate the best.

Next up ice dancing.  I'm hoping the USA team of Belbin and Agosto does very well.

The ice dance competition started yesterday.  Shocking compulsory dance finish with the Italians Fusar-Poli and Margaglio in first.  IMO they're not good--she drags him around like a bag of cement.

Sinead and John Kerr are on their way for a top 10 finish!  YOU GO GUYS!  *waves St Andrews flag*

Ladies skating starts Tuesday.  Irina S will win, of course, even if she messes up big time.  That's skating for ya.

I really enjoyed all the US men's performances! What a pity that Johnny dropped from the podium...  :'( Too bad the other two (Evan, Matthew) were so far behind after the short program. Can somebody tell if they have Russian/East European ancestors? I think Matt's mother is from Ukraine, right? Evan Lysacek's name sounds a bit East European, too! - Evgeny really deserved his gold medal. Good for him!!  :D

Johnny Weir was such a whiner. It was embarrassing for the US to have such a petulant display--not to mention blaming everything but his own self for his problems. And maybe not dressing like Bjork will help out in the future.

Evan is an Orthodox Christian... I think his parents are Slavic or something like that!

Matt Savoie I don't know but he is the most beautiful amazing skater.  I love him lots.  He does not get the credit he deserves for his solid, pure skating.  :(

Johnny is, IMO, kind of a shame. Good talent. Talks too much. And wearing a USSR sweater at Olympic practices? Oy.

Johnny is of russian origin, as well as Sacsha Cohen.
Johny is charming. Do not think of him as of a strong man.
It would be a mistake.
He is super talanted. I am sure.
