It was merely because Marie was the most robust, placid daughter. Anastasia was too young, Tatiana was needed to look after the rest pf them in Tobolsk. Olga, although the eldest was perhaps not as placid nor strong as Marie. I think they wanted one of their children with them, they were very family oriented.
