Hi, I'm new here too.  I'm Bonnie from Oregon.  My maternal grandfather was from Belarus, hence my interest in all things Russian.  I took some Russian history and literature while in college, lo these many years ago (actually only about 13!).  I'm astounded by all of the knowledge displayed on this board.  I thought I knew a lot about Russia, but now I know it ain't so!!  Thanks for listening...

A short note to say that I've enjoyed this website for several years.  I am amazed at the numbers of people who share my passion for delving into Russian and Romanov history.  The fascination and curiosity began during early childhood, like many of you!  Am thinking of a trip to Russia in the near future, but first must learn some of the language!

I'm just reposting this for Dbc1951. 

I've been lurking here on and off for a bit.  My ex is Russian and I've always had an interest in Russian history---I finally did have a chance to visit in 1999 and enjoyed myself tremendously. It was rather interesting to visit Lenin's home town, Ulyanovsk, and see his family home.  My tour guide was somewhat unsympathetic to the Tsar but became extrememly emotional when talking about the children. It is easy to see why.

In any case, I've been playing around with Windows Movie Maker and have enjoyed it.  After finding a sound file of God Save The Tsar I thought I'd try my hand at setting it to some pictures.  I'm rather new but what I wanted to do was to convey some sense of Imperial Russia and also be respectful to the Royal family.

Opinions are welcome......but not brickbats 

I think it turned out well and I hope you like it.  I'm certainly open to editing it because I already have with one of my "productions".

My apologies for not seeing this particular thread before.  As my Norwegian relatives would say...."uff da".

As I said......input on my youtube effort is appreciated.  I have others I'm working on now, but I found a sound file that would be a perfect match for the royal children.......but I think the Empress would need to be in there as well.  If anyone has pic suggestions...let me know.

For the moment, I'm trying to do one with FDR's "Day of Infamy" speech.  Let's just say that getting the RIGHT pics can be daunting.

Youtube also has some very nice efforts by others on the Romanovs....give it a look sometime.  Some are very well done.
