Hi. My name’s Mario and I’m from the region Piemonte, Italy. I spend a lot of my working time dealing with cultural events in the Royal Residences in Piedmont, especially in Racconigi and Venaria Reale. I am happy to be joining this site and the forums because, due to my job, I think I’ve got quite a lot of photos and paintings dealing with the Italian royal family, the Savoy Carignano family (Prinz Eugen “der edle Ritter”, Marie Therese, princess of Lamballe, the delightful Josephine de Lorraine Carignano, King Umberto II and Maria Josè, …), the Royal Residences in Piedmont and the great events of the past. In 2009, the 100th anniversary of the state visit of Nicholas II in Racconigi will be celebrated with o lot of cultural events and I hope to be able to keep you in touch with the preparatory works (by the way: we have of a lot of “curious” photographs of that visit!). Thank you for accepting me and don’t be too “angry” for my English. Ciao.

OOPS! I posted my Hello in General Discussion before I saw this announcement! Sorry! I didn't do it on purpose! If the mod wants to delete the thread, it's OK with me. Anyone who wishes to say "Hello" to me, please do it here from now on.
I'll be happy to respond here to your greetings. Sorry again for being hasty. Forgive me.

Please help. If I am not posting correctly.  My name is N. Zavodoff, I am so excited to find this website.  I am a misplaced descendant of white Russians. I have very little info on my family; can someone PLEASE help.  Is there anyone out there that knows info on the Zavodoff, Bagration, or Manto families.  My father and grandmother were seperated from my grandfather, Count Vladimir or Volodia de Zavodoff, at the start of WWII. My grandmother had given me very little info before her death.  But i must know my history. Also, I do not know how much info about myself I should post, as someone could misue it.

                                                                                        Hopeful Newbie,
                                                                                             Nicky de Zavodow

Hello,

I ve already posted something here, before I noticed that it may be good to introduce myself here in this section. ;)

I m working as a professor for Russian and German History at the University of Hanover in Lower-Saxony. Next to it I m often posted to Universities at UK, Spain, USA, Russia... for some months. My last job was a research on the Hesse family members at UK with professors of the University of Cambridge.
When I was 12 years old I read a book about the tsars family and I wanted to know more about their fate. When I got older I started to collect postcards and other things about them and the Hohenzollern.
I m always busy, my job, my son, my husband and a part time job for a publishers company for History books...but in my freetime I like to talk about the Romanovs. So after waiting for a while, I thought it can t be a mistake to become a member of this awesome forum. ;D

Hello everybody,

This is not an introduction post, but an "I'm back!" post. I have not posted for more than a year due to a bout of colon cancer. I had surgery to remove a section of my colon and I slipped into a coma that I did not awaken from until 1 May of this year. I have had to relearn all my basic skills and recover my ability to read and remember. I am happy to report that I am well on the road to recovery and am once again able to read and post on this wonderful site. I have missed you all and will be back online more often now and will be sure to keep current even if I don't make a lot of posts right away.

Hello everyone!  I'm a "newbie" to the board, and except for this post, so far I've just been reading messages and getting the lay of the land, so to speak.  I have several historical interests, including the Romanovs.  I love having a place where I can get different perspectives from people who share my interest.  I've been informally studying the Romanovs for about 10 years now and have also formally studied Russian and history in college.  I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Privet maya seemya!

I have been a Romanov student and fan for probably about 37 years.  It started off by accident when I ran into Robert Massie's book "Nicholas and Alexandra" which coincidentally I was only 14 when I first read it.  (Alexei's age by the way).  After Penny and Greg's wonderful book and the recent discoveries in Yekaterinburg and many years of disillusion in between; it is good and sad to finally realize there may be closure to the case.  Hope to speak to all of you.  Vash Misha

Lilie Bouton, Countess von Nostitz

I am new to this forum but would like to find the person who posted a photo of a portrait of the American-born Lilie Bouton, Countess von Nostitz.  Can you tell me the source of the photo - where the portrait is located? I have other photos of her I would be glad to share as I am including her in my new book.

For information, my most recent book, Crowning Glory: American Wives of Princes and Dukes, includes bios and photos of several American wives such as Audrey Emery (to Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovitch), Florence Crane (to Prince Serge S. Belosselsky-Belozersky), her mother-in-law, Susan Whittier, etc. see www.americanprincesses.com

Many thanks,
Rick

Hello Everyone,  I've found so many answers to my questions here that I decided to join and participate.  I was most interested in the WWI but with time my interest moved toward the Romanov family and their amazing story.  I'm looking foward to learning a great deal more now.  Greetings.
