Hi everyone!

I'm Beck (short for Rebekah) and I'm 19 years old. I live right on the border between Illinois and Indiana in a boring cornfield town where nothing exciting ever happens. I am a proud sophomore honors student at Indiana State University and I'm studying English and Science education so that hopefully one day I'll be teaching in junior high or high school somewhere not too far from home. I'm an only child and I have a dog, Snowball. I mostly I keep myself busy spending time with friends and family, doing church activities, with school work (of which I have an abundance) and hobbies. I enjoy almost anything artistic - painting, acting, writing, graphic design etc and I pretty much never leave the house without a book in my hand.

It's good to "meet" all of you.

Ok, I should have written here when I registered and that was like 7 months ago. Oops I forgot. But anyway now I'm here. So my name is Hilla and I'm 15 year old girl from Finland. I'm very proud of my name because it's the finnish name for cloudberry, which I think is a very nice berry. I'm the only child of my family and have always dreamed such siblings like OTMA had. I have a 7 year old dog, a schipperke. She's the number 1 thing in my life.
I have many hobbies like riding, singing, learning french... Next year I'm gonna start skating again. I quit when I was 6. But I love it so I want to go back to ice. In august I will go to college and start learning russia and french for real. I'm looking forward to that.
I've been interested in history since I saw the lovely cartoon movie "Anastasia" when I was little. And few years ago I started to search how things really went and bam! I got stucked in this world. But in a good way.
I'm very exited because I might have a chance to go to St. Petersburg in summer. That would be my third visit there but first time I could visit the palaces. That would be very interesting.

Funny though that I'm mostly very quiet person but sometimes, like now, I just keep talking and talking about myself

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what are your attitude to Mannerheim? Among your classmates and familiars for example? Do you study him in school? Sadly, according to my information he is becoming more and more controversial figure in Finland with a big help of different Finnish left-wing establishment.

Btw, maybe you've already seen a huge thread dedicated to him? You can find there only one of his main sides - Russian (1887-1918). Something like: brave Russian General, close to Nicholas II Officer, favourite of Polish women and man from the Petersburg - narrow, but at the same time important period of his life story. I'm planning to continue writing about him in chronologically: Finnish Civ. War, interwar period, Winter War and so on till the end.

Nicolá, I don't mind asking but that's a very hard question. I don't see there's any attitude to him. Among my aged and a bit older finnish people he's such a neutral character. People hardly know who he was. We didn't study lot about him but I guess there will be more in higher schools. And yes, he's an controversial figure among the "big people", but not really among "the normal people" like me. Of course people have different views but they don't talk about them.

I support your plan about writing of him. People should know him better.

Sorry I didn't post in here before, but I only saw this thread today.  Anyway, I'm Tim, and I too like the Romanov family.  OTMA is what gets me the most.  I have seen many pictures of these four beautiful young women and it's horrible what happened to them.  I'm glad I found this board, where there are others who, like me, remember and honour the last Tsar and his family.

Anyway, I'm Canadian, and I like to write stories, mostly science fiction and fantasy.  I also write stories based on shows such as Charmed, Doctor Who, and Will & Grace.  I'm looking forward to being a member here.
