I sought info about Dmitry+Olga so. But only ambiguity. Their a engagement in june 1912 was describe only one link. And Raspoutin spoke to Alexandra: "I am to forbid Dmitriy see OTMA, because Dmitry has "venereal disease" ", hmmmm

lol :-P Dmitri definitely desired Irina, but she chose Felix. From what I gather it was a pretty amicable arrangement. Obviously it didn't cost Dmitri and Felix their friendship as the two were united in the plot to murder Rasputin.

Far as Dmitri and Olga N. are concerned, there was much discussion of the possibility of GD Pavlovich as suitor for the eldest Grand Duchess daughter of the Tsar & Empress. But I believe it was his "unsavory" relationship with Felix and persistent rumors of their sexual dalliances that made Alexandra think better of the union.

I guess you can't blame Alix for thinking this way. Yet consider how GD Xenia and Alexander Mikhailovich accepted, albeit with reservations, Felix as their new son-in-law. Certainly he was far more outlandish and had a far more controversial reputation than Dmitri. Yet they remained open-minded and allowed the marriage to proceed. By all accounts Felix & Irina wound up a terrific match and had a happy marriage. Could Olga Nikolaevna and Dmitri Pavlovich not have done the same? Perhaps fate would never have allowed it, but I can't help but be saddened by the thought that marrying him would have saved her life.

Dmitri P has always seemed to me to favor more sophisticated women than Olga N . and certainly she seemed to enjoy those less  suave than he. Why he was chosen among the family to aid in the killing of Rasputin is a mystery to me.  Alix was not going to allow one of her girls to marry before the war, they hadn't even had a coming out ball in the capital  before much less being thought of as marriage material ...and during the war Olga said there was "no danger" of a marriage coming up . So just when  she and Dmitri  would have a chance to marry at all  is another question. Dmitri  lived because he refused  to return to the capital when "invited" to do so by the new government . If only others did that as well.
